Tours and Events

A number of special events will take place in the course of the conference. There are no extra charges for the icebreaker party, the conference dinner, and the two cocktail receptions during the two poster sessions. However, we ask you to confirm participation when you fill up your registration form.

Tour to City Downtown: guided tours in English around downtown Toronto, including a boat tour, can be booked through this link. Click on Toronto Bus and Boat and book your tour. The conference registration fee does not cover the cost of this tour.

Icebreaker party: on Monday June 20th, come and join us between 6 and 9 pm, in the Stone Lobby at the Medical Science Building, for drinks and snacks. You will have the opportunity to pick up your badge and conference material at the registration desk, which will be open from 4 to 8 pm.

Tour to University campus: On Monday, June 20th at 3 pm we will have a 1.5 hour long walking tour of the UofT campus, looking at the 7 undergraduate colleges at the St. George Campus. Please register by email.

Note: The UofT campus is fully accessible, with ramps and elevators in all buildings. However, if you an accommodation need for this tour due to a disability, please email us two (2) weeks prior and we will do our best to make appropriate arrangements.

Conference dinner: To confirm participation, please check “yes” on the conference registration form.

The conference dinner will be on Thursday June 23rd 2016 at the Mill Street Brewery. Pre-dinner drinks will start at 6 pm, dinner will be served at 7:00 pm. There is no additional charge for the conference dinner. Please confirm participation in the registration form. If you said Yes or No to the conference dinner, but has changed your mind, please inform us by email.

Note: We will have shuttle buses going from the UofT campus to the Distillery District and leaving at 5 pm. We do not have special arrangements for the return trip to your hotel. Taxi cabs and local transit are available upon a short walk.

Vegetarian options will be available at the conference dinner. However, if you have other dietary restrictions, please inform us so a special meal can be prepared for you.

Short Course

Dr. Christine Shoemaker will offer a Short course on Tuesday, June 21, 6 – 8 pm in room MSB 2173. Her workshop will be on “Python & Matlab Software for Surrogate Global Optimization Toolbox in Water Resources”. Please email us if you are interested in attending.
