Computational Methods in Water Resources (CMWR) is a series of biannual conferences which, since 1976, alternate between locations in North America and Europe. CMWR is dedicated to nurturing and promotion of cutting-edge interdisciplinary research on quantitative forecasting of hydrological processes, with a special emphasis on mathematical, computational, and statistical methods.

The XXIII edition of CMWR builds upon this long tradition of scientific excellence by providing a venue for dissemination of recent advances in quantitative modeling of hydrologic processes, numerical methods, high-performance computing, multi-scale and multi-physics simulations, inverse modeling, data-driven and data-centric methodologies, uncertainty quantification, etc. Such an interdisciplinary framework is necessary to  provide fundamental advances in our ability to forecast the collective behavior physical, chemical, and biological processes affecting water resources in the  rapidly changing world.

CMWR 2020 solicits contributions, in the form of oral presentations or posters, in the following broad areas.

  • Transport and mixing in heterogeneous porous and fractured media across scales (Marco Dentz)
  • Data-centric simulations and modeling (Valentina Ciriello and Jonghyun Harry Lee)
  • Multiphysics problems, coupling methods and domain decomposition in space and time (Jan Nordbotten, Kundan Kumar, and Nicola Castelletto)
  • Integration of multiscale spatiotemporal data for hydrological simulations and predictions (Haruko Wainwright)
  • Multiphase flow in porous media (Avinoam Rabinovich, Ronny Pini, Samuel Krevor, and Abdullah Cihan)
  • Non-Newtonian fluids in surface and subsurface flow and transport (Vittorio di Federico and Yves Méheust)
